ADU Timeline

At ADU Lords, we fully understand that building an Accessory Dwelling Unit is a fun and exciting project. However, we also know that it can seem like quite a confusing process to some. In an effort to help you avoid such confusion, we recommend that you take a look at our standard ADU timeline. While all Accessory Dwelling Units that we build come with their own unique challenges, we work to meet them head on.

That’s why we have an ADU timeline that we look to try and keep to as we build your project. Typically, we expect our projects to flow like this:

We hear from you, we speak over the phone, and we arrange a date to come and see you. We will then come out, look at your ADU plan, and give you a clear idea of what we think of your plan. Consultation is 100% free.
Now that we know that you have an ADU project that we can fulfill, we’ll get started on building a plan for you. Let us know what you are looking to add in terms of features, and our team will get to work to make that so.
With plans submitted and created to your satisfaction, we’ll now start putting in place some permits for you. We believe that this is the ideal way to ensure that you can get your ADU ready to be built via an official agreement.
At this stage, we being to lay the foundations of your Accessory Dwelling Unit. From floor plans to ordering in the features and amenities needed, we’ll start building your ADU from this stage with our builders and our construction team.
From making sure the ADU is decorated accordingly to ensuring things like plumbing and electrics are 100% operational, we’ll undergo the final stages of development to create perfection.
Now that we have gone through the full process and we have attached everything asked for, we will hand over the keys to you to start your new life with your Accessory Dwelling Unit fully completed.
